Extracurricular & Volunteering

At William Academy we value the importance of Extracurricular and Volunteering involvement for our students. Extracurricular activities help foster crucial soft skills like teamwork, leadership, time management skills that help our students become well-rounded individuals.

In addition, extracurricular activities also help increase self-esteem and encourages our students to growth personally as they explore and discover their passion and interests while building their self-confidence. 

Student Council

Students are encouraged to join our Student Council as they help organize school events and address school issues. Student Council plays an important role in shaping our school and our culture, promoting inclusiveness and developing our student’s leadership skills

Clubs & Extracurricular Activities

At William Academy we offer a variety of afterschool clubs and extracurricular activities for our students to explore their interests, passion, manage stress and to meet new friends!

Student’s participation is strong encouraged as clubs can provide valuable memories and experiences that help enhance our student’s university and college applications.

Volunteering

As part of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) program, all students must complete 40 hours of community activities (volunteering).

At William Academy, we assist with helping our students with finding volunteering opportunities within our local communities including but not limited to local hospital, senior home or library.

Examples of volunteering opportunities that our students have been involved with : Tree planting, Assisting at our local hospital in Cobourg, serving at a local senior home.

Late 2024, two of our grade 12 students from our Class of 2025 were awarded with the “Peace Medal Award” for their outstanding dedication and involvement in the community.
